Mary Zimmerman’s Metamorphoses is a retelling of the Roman poet, Ovid’s Metamorphoses. The play consists of a series of vignettes with Classical characters including Midas, Orpheus, Phaeton and Apollo. The play emphasizes the idea that love is a primary force in human change.

This effect underscored the Scientists introductory story of creation.

This music underscored the story of Ceyx and Alcyone.

This music plays during the scene with Myrrha and Cinyras when he pulls off her blindfold and she pleads with the gods to change her into something else.

This music plays at the end of the play when Baucis and Philemon are transformed into trees so that they may live forever, intertwined in their love.
